PEER ADVOCACY PROGRAM
"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." John Quincy Adams
After participating in our programs for at least a year, we offer our young adults a Leadership Program which includes speaking opportunities for the youth to share their stories and successes, panel discussions speaking with current foster youth living in group homes and probation centers, advocating on behalf of current foster youth, fundraising or creating a program to support those still in the system.
We train former foster youth to be specialists in a number of fields. They will then use the knowledge they have learned to mentor and support current and other former foster youth.
We make sure that all young adults have an opportunity to learn the essential skills like learning how to cook, manage their finances, navigate employment including resumes and interview skills, networking and goal setting.
Our goal is to provide the young adults with the opportunities to try out their skills and confidence so that they can move on in their lives and leave the foster care system as a part of their past and no longer let it define who they are.
