Scuba Diving

Through our partnership with Reef Check Foundation’s Dive Into Science program, Stepping Forward LA staff and young adults had the opportunity to become scuba certified.

Over the course of six months, participants learned about the history, science, and safety of scuba diving while receiving hands-on training from experienced instructors. The program created space for young adults and staff to challenge themselves, build confidence, and support one another throughout the process.

For many participants, becoming scuba certified was an accomplishment they never imagined possible. One young adult shared, “I never thought that I’d be able to be certified as a scuba diver. But the guidance and patience of the trainers and encouragement from the other participants made it all possible.”
