Each year, Stepping Forward LA hosts our Summer Picnic in honor of Foster Care Awareness Month, a joyful gathering that celebrates the resilience, accomplishments and potential of young adults transitioning out of foster care.

Thanks to The Change Reaction, we are able to bring together young adults, new and returning interns, co-mentors, staff and board of directors and donors for a day of connection and celebration. The picnic is an opportunity to welcome incoming interns and housing candidates into our programs, celebrate birthdays and personal wins, connect with co-mentors in-person, enjoy food games and activities and recognize young adults who have reach significant milestones. For examples interns who have completed our 3 - month internship, the first recipients of our Spencer Evans Legacy Award graduations from college and high school, birthdays and so much more.

For many young adults, events like these offer something deeply meaningful: a chance to be surrounded by people who understand, encourage, and celebrate them. Our Summer Picnic is a reminder that every young adult deserves to feel seen, heard, supported and part of a community where they belong.
